Siemens SST-200 Impulse Stage Disc — Reverse Engineering & Manufacture
Scope of Work
3D laser scan of damaged impulse disc, PMI material verification, full manufacturing drawing set, and supply of replacement disc machined to drawing.
The Challenge
The OEM quoted a 14-week lead time and €18,000 for a replacement impulse disc. The mill could not afford a 14-week outage with the season approaching.
Our Solution
Our team 3D scanned the damaged disc on-site, performed PMI to confirm the alloy (AISI 422 stainless), generated complete manufacturing drawings with all tolerances and heat treatment specs, and had the disc rough-machined, heat-treated, finish-machined, and dynamically balanced in 19 working days.
Measured Outcomes
- Lead time cut from 14 weeks (OEM) to 21 days
- Cost saving of approximately ₹12 lakh vs. OEM price
- Disc installed without dimensional issues; turbine returned to rated output
- Full drawing package retained for future reorder
